How We Do Foils and Balayage

Foils are strips of hair wrapped in foil so the lightener can process separately from the rest. That gives a bright, defined lift. Balayage is painted on by hand, without foils, so the lift is softer and grows out more gradually. The two can be combined in the same service when it suits the look.

For placement, a full head covers every section, a half head focuses on the top and crown, and face-framing highlights target the pieces around the face. Balayage is usually done across the mid-lengths to ends. A toner at the end controls the final shade and can be added to any foil or balayage service.
